Have you ever watched a horror film and, when somebody was about to walk into danger, yelled at the screen, “Don’t Do It!”? I have, many times. But of course, that would defeat the purpose of horror films, which is to shock and scare the viewers. A website called Listverse has a variety of Top 10 lists; here is a list of their top 10 survival tips for people in horror flicks (my own comments are in parentheses); see how many you can relate to movies you’ve seen:
10. Double Check (the back seat, of course)
9. Hide (and don’t peek!)
8. Run For Your Life (but you’ll definitely stumble or fall)
7. Don’t Be A Hero (it’s probably a trap)
6. Avoid The Undead (need I say more?)
5. No Human Speaks In Tongues (when somebody speaks in a different language or voice)
4. Move Out (if a murderer lived in your house…he/she may still be there!)
3. Travel In Numbers (how many times have you seen one person enter a scary room?)
2. Get Loaded (if you can’t find a weapon, try alcohol)
1. Make Sure It’s Dead (several times over)
See more of their lists at http://listverse.com/.
Feel free to leave a comment, and please come back often – I write and post twice a day! And if you like what I have to say and how I say it, you’ll probably enjoy my novels as well. They’re listed below, and you can read more about them on my website, http://www.randolphmase.com. In the near future, I’ll have excerpts of my books that you can read, accessible on my site. I hope you check it out!

This is great info! I love scary movies. I grew up watching them. The list is missing one very important survival tip: SCREAM (As LOUD as you can!). LOL! A scary movie never fails to get me screaming at the screen SCREEEEAAAAAM… The victim always appears vocally paralyzed!
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comment; I also like scary movies (not necessarily gory ones). And your comment about SCREAMING made me laugh – they did miss that one, didn’t they?

I forgot to mention, I credit scary movies for teaching me how to protect myself and what to avoid.

Another great comment – too often, we see movies only as entertainment. But they can teach us things, can’t they? I have a feeling they’ve taught similar lessons to many people.
