       Here are the answers to the questions from a board game from the late 1980s called New York City – A Trivia Game that I posted Friday:

  1. Macy’s slogan “Whale of a Sale” is derived from what? – Founder Rowland Hussey Macy was a whaler from Nantucket
  2. What department store stood on the side of the present Piaget Building? – De Pinna’s
  3. What department store was know for its bargain basement? – Gimbel’s [and you can enjoy the rivalry between Gimbel’s and Macy’s in “Miracle on 34th Street”]
  4. What department store was first to invent the Christmas window? – Lord and Taylor’s
  5. Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony premiered in Vienna in 1824.  It premiered in New York in 1846.  Where? Central Park Zoo
