The Best Bars in America

A recent issue of Men’s Health magazine has an article titled “The 20 Best Bars inAmerica,” and their list includes 4 bars inNew York City (and 2 more within driving distance, in Asbury Park,NJ and Kingston,NY):

  • Best Bar to Memorize the Password – PDT on St. Marks Place in the East Village, featuring a hidden entrance inside a phone booth and hot dogs topped with fried mayonnaise.
  • Best Bar to Order Something Older Than You – Char No. 4 on Smith Street in Brooklyn, “inspired by a passion for bourbon.”
  • Best Bar to Land a Second Date – Apothéke on Doyers Street in Chinatown, where the drinks are called prescriptions.
  • Best Shamrock Bar – Molly’s on Third Avenue in Gramercy, first established in 1895.

Kudos to these places for achieving national recognition…
