Brady’s Bar Has a Name Change

A bar called McGrath’s opened almost a century ago at the corner of Second Avenueand 82nd Street, then was renamed by owner Dan Brady as Brady’s Bar in 1961, and turned into a Giants bar by his son in 1991.

In view of today’s Super Bowl and rival quarterbacks Tom Brady and Eli Manning, the owner has decided to again change the name – albeit temporarily – to Manning’s Bar.  The new sign went up on Friday, and will remain through the weekend.  The owner did the same thing four years ago when the Patriots and Giants faced off in the Super Bowl, and the Giants pulled off an upset victory.  Many locals are hoping for the same outcome today.

We’re staying home for the game, but if we were going out, I know that I’d head straight for Second Avenueand 82nd Street…
