How Good are Your Presentation Skills?

I once saw a list in The Book of Lists that listed the top fears of adults, based on surveys.  Can you guess what the number one fear is?  No, it’s not death or a serious illness or financial problems.  The number one fear – cited by 41% of respondents – was having to speak to a group of people.  Having public speaking as a major task in my job has made it easier for me, but I know there are a lot of you who still dread that moment when you have to deliver a talk, speech, or presentation.  I found a resource that may help you.  It’s an e-book called Effective Public Speaking

If you have a Kindle,  Nook, iPad, Galaxy Tab (which I recently got), or other mobile device, you may want to check it out.  Her are just some of the topics in the book:

  • Manage speech anxiety effectively.
  • Prepare a powerful speech using 9 basic steps.
  • Organize an introduction that will relax you and your audience.
  • Identify the 3 qualities an effective speaker should possess.
  • Sound natural and enthusiastic.
  • Counter the strongest factor contributing to your fear.
  • Understand the diverse ways that visual aids can help you as a speaker.
  • Use quality visual aids to make your speech much more powerful.
  • And much more!
