New York City

One of the categories on Jeopardy! the other night was “New York City.”  So I thought it would be perfect for my blog, because of both timing and topic.  Here are the answers; I’ll post the questions – that’s how Jeopardy! works, folks – in a few days:

  1. Robert Wagner was the mayor when work began on this 16-acre performing arts center.
  2. When companies first list on the NYSE, the CEO is typically invited to do this, which starts trading on the floor.
  3. Geoffrey Canada is the president of a unique organization providing not just education but health care and social services to the children of 97 blocks in this Manhattan neighborhood, from 116th Street up to 143rd Street.
  4. This museum, established in the late 1920s, began with 8 prints and one drawing.
  5. In 1942 Fiorello LaGuardia became the first mayor to reside in this home built in 1799 by a New York City merchant.

How well do you know New York City?  Come back in a few days for the questions…
