       Here are the answers to the questions from a board game from the late 1980s called New York City – A Trivia Game that I posted Friday:

  1. How many miles do New York’s 4500 operating buses and 217 routes cover? – 974 miles [today there are 5600 buses and 310 routes]
  2. Do you know what IRT, IND, and BMT were? – Names of former subway lines [standing for Interborough Rapid Transit, Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit, and Independent]
  3. Where would you find New York’s famous beaux arts masterpieces? – Grand Central Station
  4. What is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historical and contemporary design? Cooper-Hewitt Museum
  5. The New York subway system is the largest rapid transit system in the world.  How many stops does it have? – 461 stops and 25 free transfer points [by the way, today there are 468 stations and it’s the 7th largest system in the world, based on ridership]
