One World Trade Center Rises to New Heights

For 40 years, theEmpireStateBuildingreigned supreme as the tallest building inNew York City.  That title was passed on to theWorldTradeCenterin 1973, but returned with the tragic events ofSeptember 11, 2001.

But the distinction returned to lowerManhattanon April 30, when workers raised a steel column on top of the structure, taking the height to 1,271 feet.  When finished next year, the tower will be exactly 1,776 feet high, making it the tallest building in theUnited States.  Welcome back!

You can see a great time-lapse video of the new tower’s construction at  Enjoy!

It’s beautiful! I can’t wait to see it now that I’m back in NJ and am looking forward to a trip into the city in the near future.

    Thank you for the tribute.
