How’s Your Texting?

I think most of us know that texting is very popular; just look around you for evidence.  I guess it’s so popular that there is now a contest for texting speed.  Eleven contestants from around the United States convened in Times Square for the competition, which consisted of 4 rounds:

  1. Spelling out text abbreviations
  2. Texting while blindfolded
  3. Copying phrases they were shown as quickly as possible
  4. Texting backward.

The winner, a 17-year-old from Wisconsin, edged out a 15-year-old from Queens by typing a 149-character message – including capitals, punctuation, and other symbols – in 39 seconds, earning the grand prize of $50,000.  That’s fifty thousand dollars, folks!  OMG.
