Lunch Hour in New York

NYPL - Lunch Hour Sign

If you like New York City history and nostalgia, head to the main branch of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue.  You’ll find a great exhibit of lunchtime history and nostalgia, including equipment from the popular Horn & Hardart Automats (and you can even get recipes for some of their popular dishes.  Here are some shots I took at the exhibit.

NYPL - Restaurant Storefronts

Replicas of some restaurant storefronts.

NYPL - Deli Storefront

And a deli storefront.

NYPL - H&H Front

The often-used vending machine at Horn & Hardart.

NYPL - H&H Rear

The back of the vending machine, from where the food is inserted.  But hurry – the exhibit is scheduled to end on Presidents Day weekend!
