Eating Around The World In Queens

Queens Blvd.

When we lived in Honolulu many years ago, a nearby shopping mall had a unique food court called the International Kitchens. It had a large circular area filled with tables and chairs, and about 15 or so food vendor stations along the perimeter. What made it unique was the wide variety of foods served by the vendors. One could go there with a dozen friends, and each one of them could enjoy food from a different country including China, Mexico, Greece, Japan, Italy, and India, among others.

Fast forward 40 years and go 5,000 miles east, and you’ll find a similar selection in Queens. There are almost 50 restaurants and vendors along a seven block stretch of Queens Boulevard (between 39th and 46th Streets) serving food from many countries, including Romania, Korea, Turkey, Ireland, Lebanon, and yes, even America. So if you want to dine internationally, head straight for Queens!
