Now That’s a Burger!

Big Burger

I remember a scene from the 1988 movie The Great Outdoors in which John Candy’s character eats a 96 ounce steak so his party can eat for free. He did it, and I was amazed that one person could eat that much beef – 6 pounds! But now I found something that tops that.

We recently returned to our home in New York after a visit with family in Virginia and Maryland, and stopped for lunch at a diner in New Jersey. On the menu was a burger called the 8th Wonder, with a whopping 50 pounds of meat! Why would anybody even try that? Well, the restaurant offers a reward if you and up to 9 of your friends can eat the burger in less than an hour. The reward? $5,000! But since I didn’t have 9 people with me, I had to pass. Maybe next time…
