I Missed One…Sorry, Mr. Darwin!

Yesterday I wrote about the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, the same day as the 100th anniversary of the founding of the NAACP.  In my haste, I ignored another one, the 200th anniversary of the birth of naturalist Charles Darwin.  That’s right, he was born on the same date as President Lincoln, some 4,500 miles to the east.  Their life choices were very different, but both made significant contributions to the world.  Darwin published his controversial and popular On The Origin Of Species at the age of 50, and its impact lives on.  Happy Birthday!
